NYT writers Jeremy W. Peters and Lizette Alvarez wrote an article titled, “After Orlando, a Political Divide on Gay Rights Still Stands,” and blatantly lied about Apostle Paul’s epistle to the Romans. They claim that the Apostle, “calls for the execution of gays.” Peters and Alvarez used Romans 1:18-32 as basis for this absurd and nonsensical accusation.
Unbelief and Its Consequences
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them. Romans 1:18-32
What these massive failures of journalism and theology conclude is that the last sentence calls for homosexuals to be murdered by Christians when it actually says something completely different. The last paragraph lists all the various sins that God “gave over” to the ones who refused to acknowledge Him. Not acknowledging God made them “worthy of death” but He nowhere smote them down nor called upon the believers to murder. He gave them over and allowed them to live their wretched lifestyle choices as He knew who would repent and who would not. Nowhere in those verses did the Apostle condone the murder or torture of homosexuals. If you believe that, you should probably re-take some reading comprehension classes.
After Orlando’s fatal shooting of homosexuals was committed by a Muslim ISIS convert, the ignorant and misinformed Liberals have tried to compare what Christians believe in regards to the morality of homosexuality with what Islam teaches. Here is a short summary of where the two stand:
What the Bible teaches:
Homosexuality is an affront to God and He will rightfully judge all who have sinned against Him. However, God is loving, patient, and wants none to perish. Christians are not commanded to murder, torture, or persecute homosexuals or any other sinner. We are to love him (or her) by sharing the Gospel, the love of Christ, and the deep importance of repentance. It is possible for people to love others without supporting sinful behavior.
Homosexuals most certainly have rights in America. If that is a surprise, perhaps visit an Islamic country. Objective homosexuals are very appreciative for their freedoms in the U.S.A.
What Islam teaches:
There are several lesser hadith (the words and commands of Muhammad) stating, “if a man comes upon a man, then they are both adulterers,” “If a woman comes upon a woman, they are both Adulteresses,” “When a man mounts another man, the throne of God shakes,” and “Kill the one that is doing it and also kill the one that it is being done to.”
There has never been any profound efforts made on the part of Muslim leaders in Westernized countries to relieve the plight of homosexuals in Islamic countries. Christians believe homosexuality is a sin that a person can turn away from. Islamists believe homosexuality is a sin that must result in death.
Unfortunately, Christians are under fire for even speaking against homosexual behavior. They are accused of breeding contempt for homosexuals, which leads to violence committed by people who are not Christians. This is hogwash. The contempt for homosexuals come from those who are taught to hate them. Believing homosexuality is a sin does not mean the person hates a homosexual just as believing gluttony is a sin does not mean the person hates a fat person.
Writers like these two NYT dupes are contributing nothing for those in pursuit of objective truth. Spreading misinformation, fabrications, and flat out lies shows more hate and ignorance than any Christian who stands up for God’s Word. Jeremy W. Peters and Lizette Alvarez are liars and far beyond any credibility. Avert your eyes from deception and lies. Look for the truth yourself. Don’t be willing to regurgitate whatever you find on the internet. Seek the truth and you’ll find it, my friends.
